Sun 3 Sep 2017 |
6.30 – 7.30pm |
PS Art Space, Fremantle |
This program consisted of a concert, a series of recordings and a 2 week visual art exhibition.
New artworks designed as music compositions were commissioned from
Matt Hunt, Kevin Robertson, Erin Coates (whos work ‘The Pact’ went on to win the John Springer Prize that year), Marco Fusinato, Brigid Burke, Tina Havelock Stevens and Lucas Abela.
Curatorial Note: The artists were chosen for their connection with music, rather than their abilities to ‘make scores’ – from artists that play in bands, or have featured musicians in their works, have worked with musicians or have works that can be read as music. A range of media featured in the program – sculpture, painting, video and drawing.
You can buy the catalogue, a 52 page book with full colour reproductions of the works and an introductory essay by artistic director of Decibel, Cat Hope from here.
You can hear recordings of the works, plus an audio tour of the exhibition, here.
