In celebration of the 30th anniversary of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks film Fire Walk With Me (1992), WA-founded new music ensemble Decibel transforms PICA into a progressive concert environment teeming with red velvet and darkened portals in Twin Peaks Was 30, with special guest Rachael Dease.
Experience a series of unfolding compositions in a unique concert environment that pays tribute to the theme song’s composer, Angelo Badalamenti, and featured singer, Julee Cruise, with reworkings of the original film score. Expect synth instrumentals and Cruise-inspired songs backed by signature twanging guitars and reverb-drenched soundscapes.
With lighting by celebrated designer Jenny Hector, the program features world premieres of Twin Peaks influenced compositions by Rebecca Erin (WA), Rachael Dease (WA) and Matt Warren (TAS), as well as a work by James Rushford (VIC). Badalamenti arrangements are by Candice Susnjar.
Twin Peaks Was 30 is the second in the Decibel Was series that celebrates important dates in retrospect. It continues the ensemble’s ongoing explorations of arranging film and pop music for chamber music performances, adapting work from Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schifrin, Scott Walker, Low and others.
