"In the area of concert music, Decibel works across the boundaries of sound art, improvisation, acousmatic, performance art, cross-genre influences, noise and interpretations of outsider pop. Their work focuses around conceptual, thematic starting points and has a high level of musical compositional thinking. They truly embrace technology and their work on scrolling and animated computer scores, the Decibel ScorePlayer, has provided a new and exciting level of precision and coordination in the realisation of graphic scores. It is now used by ensembles and composers internationally. In 2012, Decibel commissioned 28 new works, performed sell out concerts, undertook a highly successful European tour featuring Australian experimental music and featured in the first TedX Perth."
Decibel won the Inaugural APRA AMC Award for Excellence in Experimental Music in 2011.
